Eligibility Criteria of NDA & NA Exam

The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is a prestigious gateway to a career in the Indian Armed Forces. To appear for the NDA exam, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. 1.    Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India, subject to certain exceptions as specified by the UPSC.

2.    Age Limit: For the NDA exam, candidates must be between 16.5 to 19.5 years of age as of the date of commencement of the course. This means candidates must have been born between specific dates as determined by the UPSC.

3.    Educational Qualifications: The educational qualifications required for the NDA exam differ based on the branches of the Indian Armed Forces:

a) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 pattern of schooling or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.

b) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 pattern of schooling or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, from a recognized board or university.

4.    Physical Fitness: Candidates appearing for the NDA exam must meet certain physical fitness standards. This includes parameters such as height, weight, chest measurements, and general physical fitness. The specific requirements can be found in the official notifications issued by the UPSC.

5.    Marital Status: Male candidates must be unmarried and should not have entered into a marriage contract before or during the training period.

6.    Other Considerations: Candidates are required to be mentally and physically fit, as per the standards set by the respective medical authorities. They must not have any physical or mental condition that would hinder their performance during training or service.
